The BMW E60 and E61 are model successors to the 5 Series BMW E39. The E stands for 'entwicklung' which means 'development' or 'evolution' in German and the E60 is the company's 60th model design. The E60 is a 4-door sedan and E61 a 5-door wagon Touring model, both introduced in 2004. Compared to its predecessor, the E60 is both longer and wider, with added trunk space.
